Visit the Best Lavender Fields in the Cotswolds
Wondering where the best place to see lavender fields in the Cotswolds is?
You won’t find better than Cotswold Lavender at Snowshill, near Broadway. Every summer, these rolling purple fields burst into bloom, filling the air with the most incredible scent and creating one of the most relaxing, picture-perfect spots in the Cotswolds.
I’ve been visiting Cotswold Lavender for years now, with my camera, my family, or both, and honestly, it never gets old. It’s my favourite summer tradition and I thought I’d share some tips to help you make the most of your visit.
In this blog, I’ll cover:
✔️ The best time to see the lavender in full bloom
✔️ What to expect when you visit
✔️ My personal tips for a stress-free, chilled-out day
✔️ How to book one of my Lavender Mini Photo Sessions during peak season
When is the Best Time to Visit Cotswold Lavender?
Timing is everything if you want to see the lavender at its best.
Opening: Late June 2025
Peak Bloom: Mid to late July — this is when the fields are in full colour and absolutely stunning for photos
Season Ends: Early August
I always try to go in July for my own photos and family days out as that’s when you’ll get those classic, deep purple rows that look incredible in pictures.
Why I Keep Coming Back to Cotswold Lavender?
There’s something so calming about this place. I go most years, both for my own family and to run my Lavender Mini Sessions and the atmosphere always feels so chilled out. Even when there are plenty of visitors, the fields never feel too busy. There are so many rows to explore, you can always walk further down to find your own quiet space amongst the flowers if there are quiet a few people visiting at the same time as you.
The smell is honestly one of the most relaxing things ever. It’s not over-powering, but there is a gentle scent while out in the field that is very calming. And if you’re anything like me, don’t leave without trying the lavender sponge cake from the little café shack. It sounds strange but trust me, it’s absolutely delicious! They have lots of lavender (and other) treats there, plus all of the Cotswold Lavender range like their skincare, homeware and you can just buy the oil too to take the lovely smell from out in the fields home with you.
My Top Tips for Visiting Cotswold Lavender
After years of visiting, I’ve got a few insider tips to help you make the most of your day:
1. Mobile Signal is Patchy — But They Have Wi-Fi
There’s very little phone signal once you get up to Snowshill. If you’re meeting friends, stay near the entrance and use the free Wi-Fi to message them. Definitely plan your route before you set off, as satnav signal can drop too.
2. Great for Families — Shaded Play Area for Kids
It’s such a great place for kids to run around safely and burn off energy. Even though it’s a big space, it’s all enclosed so it’s a great place to let kids wander freely and enjoy themselves. There’s also a little shady play area perfect for kids needing a cool-down or a break from walking the fields and covered seating for enjoying a picnic for hot or rainy days.
3. Expect the Weather to Change
Snowshill weather can be unpredictable! It can often change and differ from the forecast, so bring layers, sun cream, and maybe a waterproof — just in case. It’s a fantastic location to watch the clouds moving by or spotting rainbows.
4. Make a Day of It
You can easily spend hours wandering the fields, enjoying the views or sampling the café treats. Or head off for a lovely village walk afterwards. Snowshill village itself is gorgeous, and Snowshill Manor is nearby with interesting artifacts and beautiful grounds to explore.
Lavender Mini Photo Sessions — capture memories of your day at the fields
If you’re planning to visit during peak bloom, why not capture the experience properly? I offer Lavender Mini Sessions throughout July. These sessions are a beautiful way to capture natural moments of your child in a setting that’s both calming and visually stunning.
My sessions are all about keeping things relaxed, natural, and fun, especially for little ones who need space, patience, or who aren’t keen on lots of posing. The lavender fields create the perfect backdrop, and I’ve got lots of experience photographing there, so I know exactly where to go for the best shots and quietest spots.
Spaces are limited, so get in touch soon if you’d love some special photos amongst the flowers.
